New Incentive to Hire Minorities in the NFL

Like I do most days anymore, I skim through the headlines on the ESPN app for any updated news on the NFL. Football is like my life here. With that being said I also feel like I should warn people that this could be a touchy subject. I know that it is for some. I should also point out that this is my opinion, I don't know how the actual NFL hiring works. So though I saw it today, The Undefeated had posted two days ago that a new rule or incentive is to be voted on shortly. They don't like the fact that there are not many "minorities" being hired in the NFL. Now, I'm sorry but that's just a nice way of saying blacks aren't being hired. They never really talk about any other minorities that I hear of. So they're new incentive is that when you hire a "minority" you could move up in the draft. In the third and fourth rounds it looks like but the principle is still the same. They are trying to bribe managers into hiring people of color. I was actually kind of shocked to read this. I thought that we were past the skin color thing. In my opinion, if you want the job and you're good and can get along with the team then you should be hired. It's that simple. I believe that back when Art Rooney was alive that there was a reason for the Rooney Rule. Now though, I believe that you should rely on your skill. Bribing managers to hire a minority isn't right. There are so many factors in choosing coaches and other staff that color just shouldn't be involved. By the way, I think it's funny that they focus on the staff but we don't seem to have that problem with the players. The players are as diverse as we could get them. *picture from google
