Twin dilema

My friend's wife recently delivered twin baby boys and they looked perfectly identical. The hospital staff had put a wrist band marked as baby 1 and 2 and this was the only identifiable difference the parents found on the baby.
Family and friends who came to see the babies too were surprised at the stark similarity between with the two babies. To make matter worse they both sounded the same. The parents are in a dilema how to identify the babies without the wrist band.
Several people suggested to check for their personality, moods, facial expression or find some distinguishable marks on the body, some even suggested a tattoo to make the twins identifiable.
Have you ever faced such a twin dilema?
How can identical twins be identified correctly?
Will there be physical changes later on in life which can help identify the twins?

Yes there must be dissimilarity in a twin which only the mother may be able to distinguish. But for family and friends they remain a mystery untill the twins grow up and show difference in their personality.

I don’t have twins but most twin parents dress the babies in different colors form each other which makes it easier to tell them a parts as they get bigger personality will show through as infants they won’t have much of a personality and being the same doesn’t means what they think and feel will stay the same. So picking colors or even a design for the day on the outfit of even maybe writing the first letter of there name on the diaper at changing.

Good idea to dress the twins in different colour. Most parents dress their twin babies identically. As the kids grow up they start to demand for more identical things like toys, bag and so on. Writing the first letter of their name on the diaper is also a good thing to do.

@jayanth_77 just because they are twins doesn’t mean they need to be dressed a like. That’s where a lot of twin parents go wrong is they don’t start at birth with the fact they are still two different people. So do it then. Just because I had tow son’s back it I back didn’t mean they wore the same outfits, I know they are two different boys and probably wouldn’t like the same things till there old enough to express like or want.

@ShyBear88 you are right. The babies are separate individuals and have their own identity.

In the picture they certainly do look identical. So I take it one does not have a mark that the other has. No, I often wonder how the parents of identical twins can tell the apart.
