Do you believe in Murphy's law?

Murphy's law is not a scientific law but a strong belief that " If something has to go wrong it will go wrong and at the worst possible moment." I strongly believe it does from my personal experience. I purchased a brand new bicycle to cycle around my locality for dual purpose of keeping myself fit and to move around faster through narrow lanes. With great joy I pedalled my new cycle around the streets waving at people at my neighborhood. There is a downhill path leading to my locality and I felt it would be great if I pedalled a little faster. As I pedelled faster the cool breeze became stronger and I was thrilled and enjoyed the moment. At the end of the hill I had to take a left turn and so applied breaks to slow down. But to my horror the breaks didn't work and I landed straight onto a pile of rubbish. Nothing serious but never expected the bicycle breaks would fail and I will land in such a nasty place . There are many such incidents in our life which lead us to believe that no matter how well you plan something can go wrong, if it has to; and will go wrong at the worst possible moment. We must be prepared for it. Do you believe in Murphy's law? What was your Murphy's law moment?

Being prepared for an exam by packing many pens in case one didn't work... None of the pens would work. I eventually got one working thankfully but it was definitely a panic moment

Yes even with the best of planning and preparation if something has to go wrong it will happen . Best example is a road accident. Even if you are safe driver and wearing all protective tools like helmet and seat belt still you can't stop an accident because the other person may not be a safe driver. But as you are wearing safety belt or helmet you can minimise your injury.

@jayanth_77 Yeah seat belts can minimise injury but they can also pose an injury risk unfortunately

Bad things can unfortunately happen at any moment. I was on a writing job role most of the month and now things have slowed down some so that is not too good and I am hoping to get back on a roll again.

Yes you can never predict when bad things will happen and need to be prepared.

In the management course that I attended, there was the segment about PPA - potential problem analysis. There, Murphy's Law was alive because if there is a potential problem then that could happen so you need to think of a preventive measure or a contingent action.

@CarolDM yes the Murphy's phenomena is difficult to predict. Even when you are well prepared something does go wrong beyond our imagination. Like a road block due to fallen debris or a flat tyre on our route to a nice picnic. Although you planned the trip well in advance you can never predict such thing can happen
