Soap reminded me of a bad time in my life

I am not going to go into details of it, but we recently purchased Dove White Soap for it's moisturizing qualities. I was opening the package to grab one for hand washing purposes when a memory snuck in.
Like I said, I'm not going to go into details on it, but it did involve Dove White Soap and a particularly bad time in my life.
I'm just glad that time has passed me by. It's funny what things can remind us of others, isn't it?

@thelme55 I agree, especially as I have a tendency to dwell too much on the bad memories and letting them consume me.

I would much rather remember the good.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That is better than remembering the bad ones.

Thank You. I handled it better than I expected I might, which I can only be happy / grateful for.

Sight, smell, touch, all probably involved in your memory. I guess avoiding Dove might be a good thing to do.

I've been known to avoid things that bring back bad memories, but I don't feel the need to do that with the dove soap. In fact, I think sometimes I avoid things that give me bad memories instead of just powering through and not letting the memories get the better of me.

Out of nowhere, sometimes. At least, that is how it happens for me.

An item, a smell, a food...all of these things can bring back memories. I'm sorry it reminded you of a bad time.

Thank You. I think even two years ago, I might have looked at the memory and hated it. I don't like it now, but it doesn't hold the same power it once did.
You are right, so many things can bring back memories.

I don't think that anyone will ever truly understand it.

It really is. I am just glad the memory doesn't hold the same weight it once did. A lot of times I'll stop using or doing something if it reminds me of a time in my life I'd rather forget. I didn't feel the need to do that this time.

@lovinangelsinstead21 It doesn't seem to work for everyone, but it did work for me.

The dove soap was once recommended to me by a co-worker who noticed I had pimples on my face. I've used it as a face mask before to some success.
