This was taken from The Abbeville press and banner (Abbeville, S.C.), November 19, 1869
I only clipped part of this, the part that stood out the most to me. However, the article is explaining a new cable line going from Belgium to "yet to be determined - but somewhere in America."
Oh how far we've come!

I wonder how the people would feel about our present means of communication!

It would probably boggle their mind! Being able to compose a message to someone halfway across the world and get a reply within seconds!

@LindaOHio I agree. It helps us to cultivate relationships with people from all around the world, and it helps shorten the cultural divide.

Oh yes, and history will look at this time at least the last 50 years as part of the technological revolution.

I am sure you are right. It makes me think about a few years ago when (I think maybe last year) when a capsule that was placed at a shopping center fifty years ago uncovered.

I saw something a couple of weeks ago about what Italians in 1920 thought 2020 would look like. From what I can remember of the illustration, there were lots of marquee boards in the picture, and the people were in these sort of bubbles that I believe were meant to be cars.

@RubyHawk I am sure. I like to think it will be somewhat between what The Jetsons imagined the future to be, and what Back To The Future II thought it would be.
