2011 - Malta votes on a proposal which is approved, resulting in a law allowing divorce under certain circumstances.
1944 - Gladys Knight was born. "The Empress of Soul" is an American singer, songwriter, actress, businesswoman and author. She is known for her work with Gladys Knight & the Pips in the 60s through the 80s. She has won 7 Grammys...4 as a solo artist and 3 with the Pips. Two of her big hits are Midnight Train to Georgia and That's What Friends are For. Knight was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Pips. She has had 11 #1 R&B singles and 6 #1 R&B albums. She has been an active musical artist since 1952.
1968 - Kylie Minogue was born. She is an Australian-British singer, songwriter and actress. Minogue is the highest-selling female Australian artist of all time. You may remember the "Princess of Pop's" hit The Loco-Motion in the 1990s and Can't Get You Out of My Head in the 2000s. She continues to reinvent herself and has sold more than 70 million records worldwide. She's won 1 Grammy, 3 Brit Awards, 17 ARIA Music Awards, 2 MTV Europe Music Awards and 2 MTV Video Music Awards.
