Word alternative

There are Microsoft Word alternatives for those who can't afford to purchase the original, but it has been a long time since I worked on my writing and I see there so many alternatives, I don't know what would be best. I do have Onedrive version of Word, but the problem with that is, if I make a mistake, there's no "go back" button. The ones I am seeing now are LibreOffice and OpenOffice, both were okay, but had some issues which I can't remember right now. Then I see something called, WPS Suite, that I never heard of. I need to be able to save the document in doc or docx for when I share with agents or publishers. So I guess I need some writers to help me, which is the closest to Microsoft Word for your writing?

I have ubuntu as my operating system so Libre Office is my default. I like it a lot, especially after I learned how to use it. I have not used word in years. I would suggest going to youtube and looking for comparison ideos, or videos explaining any new updates to libre office. That would probably give you the best idea of what will work for you.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Thanks, unless someone says another one is better, I will probably download LibreOffice.
