Ah-choo! Sneezes!

Japan

It was a beautiful, sunny spring morning today when I went out before work to ride my bicycle. I was wearing a mask, but after a minute or so I felt a sneeze coming on. "Oh no!" I thought. "People will think I'm sick and should stay home." I stopped so I could cover my mouth/mask with both hands so it wouldn't be so loud. As I rode, I heard another person sneeze. They were standing talking to a neighbor (both in masks and standing about a meter apart, which in Japan is sometimes as far as you can get without running into a wall.) Later in the day, I went to a store and several people were sneezing. Not me, fortunately. Then tonight on TV, the prime minister of Tokyo was having some trouble with coughs. Some allergen is out and about. The weather report today says not much pollen, but the combination of wet soil and dry air probably has mold flying around. I don't think all these people are sick! (At least I sure hope not!) Do you have hay fever/pollen allergies?

During Corona times if you sneeze or cough people will think you have Corona.

Exactly. I don't want them to think that, but when I was in the store I did not go into the aisle where a man had sneezed, even though he was wearing a mask.

I have a problem with house dust too, especially if it has been wet and moldy inside. I am allergic to mold and the related things of mushrooms (to eat) and penicillin (made from mold).

@petatonicsca i think you have rhinitis. the sad thing is, there is no cure for allergy.

I have allergies. I have reactive airways, asthma and rhinitis. So even before these pandemic I'm already wearing mask every time I go out. I'm allergic to dust, smoke, strong smells and other pollutants. Changes in weather triggers my rhinitis. Too hot weather makes me out of breath. Often times I have the feeling of short breath or like I can't breathe deeply or properly. I always need my meds.

I used to have rhinitis but found that mine was related to eating gluten (along with a lot of other symptoms). So I hardly ever have sinus problems any more. One of my best friends is like you and she always wears a mask.
