Ramadan during the time of Coronavirus and why fasting is good for you?

I was lucky enough to stuck long enough in Egypt to experience Ramadan here. I didn't expect thought that I still will be here at the end of the feast too. Well everyone says this Ramadan wasn't at all as the years before due Coronavirus. No food on long tables on the streets for poor people, less decorations and no celebration on the streets. Still lots of people been out, seems like no one is really afraid of the virus here. And cars were going around every evening before the Azan still to give food bags for the poor. Also coaches with juices were rolling around in the streets and gave free drinks. Also me and my boyfriend went for a round with the car to give food to them. They were really grateful, it felt very nice, we got lots of blessings. Also some people went around the cars with a bag of water, juice and some dates to give people to have it after 6.40 pm, after the Azan. I always wanted to try fasting since I know it has lots of great health benefits. It has anti-inflammatory, anti viral and antibacterial effect, because when you are starving your system bacterias, cancer cells and viruses also starve. Your body doesn't produce sugar for cancer cells either. For two weeks I had intermittent fasting. I didn't eat all day till 6.40 pm only little bit of water and bit of tea sometimes. It was quite easy for me like that, I didn't feel very hungry. I have done it few times in my life so it wasn't new, I haven't done it for longer period though. Sometimes I got a few minutes hunger attach then it passed and my day was going. I did different things, interacted with different people so I wasn't concentrating on food either. Then I had my eye surgery and I had to break the fast because I was taking antibiotics. After that I wasn't really fasting any more until the last day before the end of Ramadan. I promised myself if I can buy a nice property here, I will definitely try proper fasting at least for a day. So that day came and I tried fasting without water too. To be honest after not fasting for almost two weeks, it was hard. I wasn't missing food that much as water. I was very hungry thought but I felt bit dizzy because of not drinking. I don't know if it's because of fasting but during the intermittent fast I felt good, light and mentally sharp. I felt active and creative. Fasting is very healthy for you, but some liquid is needed for your health, so in my view intermittent fasting is the best. They withdraw water too because of religious reason, to be able to feel with the poor. And before Azan usually families and friends met for breaking the fast and ate together. I ate lots of time with my boyfriend's family as well. Written by: Alexandra Nemes

That's great, if it was also your goal during Ramadan. Did you loose just with fasting? Lot's of people gain during this time because they eat a lot at night. I couldn't eat much in the evening either after fasting.

I think fasting from food is good for you but not fasting from water.

Fasting is good for your body. During fasting your body will burn up the fat stored in your tummy, hips, arms and thighs and help you to lose weight.
