For a week and a day, we have watched the protestation in all of America. I was just wondering why I have not heard the people sing. In my country, we have a battle song entitled Bayan Ko. We sing it with fist in the air. As the French sings 'Do you hear the people sing, singing the song of angry man.' from Les Miserables. America has a patriotic prayer song which is appropriately entitled Battle Hymn of the Republic. Wish the Americans would sing this now. I just played it on the piano for America.

Honestly in my personal opinion I don't think it's appropriate since it's a civil war song. We sang this in the Baptist church that I use to attend as a praise and worship Christian song.

The underlying cause of what is happening in America is apartheid - the discrimination and looting of black lives by white people. The police force, and currently, even the military, had been utilized against the people. That is civil war. They are all Americans. The Battle Hymn is a song of patriotism - Vox Populi Vox Dei.

@louievill Nope, never heard of the 'burning of the school.' How does it go? I didn't get the joke. The Battle Hymn is a unifying cry, under one God, and with full faith in Him. 'Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword His truth is marching on, His truth is marching Glory, glory, Hallelujah! Glory, glory, Hallelujah! Glory, glory, Hallelujah! His truth is marching on I have seen Him in the watch fires of a hundred circling camps They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps His day is marching on Hallelujah, Hallelujah! In the beauty of the lilies, Christ was born across the sea With a glory in His… ' The Americans have now builded God an altar in the evening dews and damps. All across the United States, God is in the watch fires of a hundred circling camps. This hymn is a battle cry.

@eileenleyva there are a lot of Christians in America and in the world including me who sing that song in our services to rally people towards the Christian faith, I don't think a sensitive multi racial and religious society would use the song now for unity as it did just to the Union side and not the confederacy during the civil war. The composer of that song was sympathetic to the cause of the Union. At this point I think it's more of civil unrest towards government policies . Maybe they should just sing another modified version of " burning of the school", ( joking) , have you heard that song? Some naughty crazy classmate taught it to me when we were in grade school lol

I've seen protests wherein they sing 'Where Is The Love'. Not sure if that counts but the song is relevant with what has been going on.

@eileenleyva not sure about the marching beat but it can be a good dance beat.

Definitely relevant. Lyrics - bull's eye. Someone must fill the airwaves with this song. I wonder, though, if the song could keep with the marching beat.

I'd like to hear the people sing. Singing is uplifting, emboldening, and most effective because it scares the oppressor.
