Good Morning Mylot!
Cul De Sac Mowers
Lots of mowers out this week. I believe we haven't had a day this week where someone hasn't had their lawn mowed by a professional service. Sort of odd, if ya think about it.
A watched mailbox never barks
Or however that saying goes. So, the tea I was talking about from ebay is shipping. Coming from New York. Then the yarn, which came from Delaware, is now in Pennsylvania. The yarn is supposed to be here Sunday, but I'm imagining it won't be delivered until Monday. I know the postal service used to deliver packages on Sunday, but not sure if they still do.
Weather or not you like it
We have a high of 83 degrees Fahrenheit, or 28 degrees Celsius. We may have rain today, and I hope we do. The isolated storms from the other day didn't reach us.
Fell out of the barn during a total eclipse of the sun
Sometime in June of 1778, he fell off the roof of a neighbors barn, and died as a result of the injuries. Not instantly, it seems, as he was able to make a last will. Each of his many children received five pound sterling, which (if I calculated correctly) would be about $840 in today's money. His wife inherited several of the man's properties.. as well as.. well, yeah...
Anyway,
How Is Your Friday?
Is it a FRI-YAY or a FRI-BOO ?

I have never tried cross stitching. My sister used to do cross stitch type rugs, but it is not anything I've ever tried before. I bought 12 skeins of yarn to make a blanket with. I will use three strands as one.
I prefer temperatures to be around 15 degrees celsius.

@Janet357 There is a pattern I will follow from Simply Maggie on youtube. She says the blanket will take one hour to finish, but it may take me a little longer, I do not know. I will only use single crochet for the whole blanket.
Yes, I think cross stitching takes a lot of patience and dedication.

Yes, my quote is "A watched mailbox never fills." When you are expecting something it never comes in. Your weather is a bit better than here..will be 86 today, and 89 tomorrow. Poor guy, well his last thought was of others.

We reached 90 degrees here yesterday, so the high of 83 is welcome to me.
I think my post office has gotten a bit better, but it used to be that a package would sit in the post office for an extra day, and this was before the pandemic.
Yeah, the guy was a lookout during the Revolutionary War. During the eclipse, he could not see and walked off of the roof sustaining injuries that killed him a day later. He's like my great x 7 or so grandfather.

What? Who? Were you reading from an old newspaper again? I am still waiting for a package that was shipped the beginning of May (from China I think).

Nope, the barn loft guy was my great, great well.. I'm guessing atleast 8 generations back, give or take. Apparently he was serving as lookout. One source calls it "Andrew Hampton's Fort" and one calls it "Andrew Hampton's Farm." Either way, there's a barn with a loft which is what he fell from. I keep saying "roof", but it's the loft apparently.
The following two paragraphs I took from the wikipage for my ancestor :
On June 23, 1778, John Bradley fell from the loft at Andrew Hampton's fort, suffering mortal injuries. He was on duty as a lookout for native American raiding parties. There was a full eclipse of the sun on that day between the hours of 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, and John Bradley, unable to see in the darkness, apparently stepped over the edge, falling to the ground suffering severe internal injuries.
John Bradley managed to remain alive for several hours, waiting for his wife to come to the fort. According to several witnesses, when she did arrive several hours later, she looked at John, and said to him "Old man you will surely die. Have you made a will?" At which John replied that he had not, because he was waiting for her to get there. John Bradley passed away the next day, June 24th 1778, a casualty of the Revolutionary War.

@LindaOHio Yes, it really is. Of course, I assume this is all mostly true, but I do have questions.
The most important being : Why in the world did he move forward if it was pitch black?
Have you been looking at old newspapers from the link I gave you?

@isweartokira Yeah, I agree. I mean, from a modern perspective I'm thinking "Why would you step forward when you couldn't see?" Of course, there could have been any number of factors that made him step forward.

I am trying to remember the last time that happened for me. I feel like it was sometime this year. I hope it does come on Sunday though.
Oh, it used to be Amazon packages only that came on Sunday, atleast that I know of.

Good Evening to you!
Ah, watching a movie and having snacks is a good way to end a Friday. We used to do that here with the whole family.

@SHOHANA You live in a hostel? I've heard about those, but I can not really imagine them.
I'm sorry about your family. I've lost a lot of mine as well.
