I was recently prescribed this drug because I was having difficulty breathing and I am flying high with energy now. Is this something with which I should be concerned? I don't want to go to bed and I really should at this point.

Albuterol sulfate has been known to raise heart rate and blood pressure. Stimulants also have this effect. Your body may take time to adjust and develop a tolerance to this medication, it is possible as a previous response indicated that the doseage is to high for you at this time. I suggest you contact your phsyician and talk with him/her about this side effect you are experiencing, this may not be a medication that is right for you. Reducing the dose or the frequency until you can consult your physician may be of some help. Benadryl is a good sleep aid and can help offset allergenic reactions or even medication reactions without reducing the effectiveness of said medication. But before using benadryl consult your doctor.

Thanks for the thoughts and advice. I'm going to see my doc again on Monday. Unfortunately Benydryl does absolutely nothing for me at all.

If it makes you hyper and flying high as you say, you have used too much. My daughter and I both use that, we have a nebulizer. Cut back on the amount a little bit that you use. If you are using one tube, cut back to half of a tube. If you have an inhaler instead, take one hit instead of two. Just cut back a little bit! Everything will be fine!

Hmm, I'm following the dosage prescribed to help get rid of my bronchitis. Good thing I'm going to see a doctor on Monday.
