I Sang in the Desert to a Song with No Title in the Lyrics

Sometimes you have to wonder what goes through the minds of a songwriter. In one instance, you have songs that have lyrics that are basically the title and little else. In another case, you have 40 million songs with the same title (look how many songs named “I Love You” exist). I’ve even counted down songs with really goofy song titles.
But then......
You have these songwriters who name a song something......
Then forget to put that title in the lyrics!
It’s not all that common in the grand scheme of things, but it’s not a rarity, either.
So, I came up with three dozen songs that have titles that are never mentioned in the lyrics of the song.
Obviously, instrumentals aren’t included (save for “Tequila,” that’s a 100% occurrence rate!). I also avoided songs that have “the ballad of....” or “song” in the title, because you don’t hear songs that start, “Here’s the ballad of (whomever).....”. While Elton John’s “Your Song” has song in the lyrics, “Border Song” does not. I can do a million songs with “the ballad of.....” where you’ll never find the title in the lyrics.
One more thing: the words in the title might be in the song, but the actual phrase that makes up the title is not.
I’ve broken these down into three categories: my obscure world (some well-known people there, but they’re album cuts), the hits/FM rock staples, and.....country music. Oh, sheesh, why does there have to be country music?? Well, it’s extremely rare for country songs to not have the title in the lyrics. I mean, there’s a song called “Love Song in 32 Bars,” so how can you miss the title in the lyrics in country music????
I hope you enjoy.

I've actually never worried about the title vs. the lyrics, although sometimes I'm surprised at a song that I recognize but I don't know the title because it's entirely different than the song. Does that make sense?

Songwriters have a mind of their own. Amazing to listen to conversations among songwriters. There is a show that comes on NPT here called Muletown in the Round. A few songwriters come and sing their songs. Always cool to find out the songs they wrote.

I've begun listening to SKA music. It's different and I am enjoying it, however, you are right. I have heard songs about a sound system and one about Pizza day at school, talking about school lunches. But they have a good beat and tune so they are acceptable.
