Rock Titles Not in the Song: Creeque Alley (#3)

Summertime means goofy rain patterns. Louisville isn’t that big of a city geographically; however, there were flash flood warnings in one part of town while my neck of the woods didn’t get a drop of rain! With the rain on one side of town and sunshine on the other, that means humidity, which means stay inside and listen to music! And here’s another well-known tune that doesn’t have the title in the lyrics. #3: Creeque Alley - The Mamas & The Papas You probably don’t know it by the title, but you do know that famous line that ends every verse: “No one’s gettin’ fat except Mama Cass.” The story of 60s L.A.-based folk rock in general, neatly summarized in rhymed couplets in three and a half minutes. Along the way you hear about acts’ early bands (such as the Mugwumps) and how things evolved into supergroups such as the Byrds, the Lovin’ Spoonful, and, of course, the Mamas and the Papas. One of my favorites, period.
