The Animal Attraction

Yesterday, when we went to GFA mountain, we found that the attractions were open, but the animals were safely put away while maintenance was done to their habitat. I did take a shot of one of the bears in his cage, but that's not what I show here.
A friend and I enjoyed lunch at the cafe they have there and went outside to eat our meal with the squirrels, chipmunks, hummingbirds and another type of bird I'm not sure of.
This is of a squirrel, happily eating. He had several arguments with another squirrel who wanted some of the food on that platform there.

@thelme55 My friends car broke down, yes. No, I've not been able to take photos of the local squirrels as they are too fast.

We broke down coming home which wasn't fun. We have squirrels all over the place here. They like to get on the bird feeder and take the food there.

cool. I don't think I ever been to Grandfather Mountain. I have been to Boone and to Tweetsie.

I've never been to either of those places. Grandfather Mountain is nice. I wouldn't say it's my favorite, but it's definitely beautiful and they have a little area where you can look at the gems and minerals of the area. That part was closed on Friday when we went.

@gr8nana6 I've been there twice. My family came from the mountains, but those that are a little further south. Western NC is so beautiful, and what I've seen (pictures) of Tennessee is the same.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Ahhh ok, I thought it might be in Ga or somewhere up the east coast. Beautiful mountains in all those areas Beautiful pics would definitely love to visit there.

Cool! I've never seen a squirrel in real life before, just at movies and cartoons. What was that squirrel eating? Nuts?
Oh, and do squirrels bite people?

They can bite people, but it's highly unlikely that they will. A friend of mine has one as a pet because it fell out of a tree and didn't seem inclined to take care of itself.
It was seeds, they looked like sunflower seeds maybe.

Are squirrels a lot like large mice, then? Since they both bite occasionally and eat seeds...

@Tierkreisze Squirrels don't really bite people as they don't really stay around people. They can bite though, and most cases it's because the human is messing with them and they are frightened.

Thank You. There were chipmunks too. It was cute to watch them scurrying around. They went inbetween the deck a time or two.
