This is the movie I watched yesterday while folding clothes. I was surprised it was so star packed with Nicole Kidman, Jude Law, Renee Zellweger and Natalie Portman included in the cast.
I love the scenic view in the first half of the film. There is something about green lawn and garden that delights me. But then it started to be depressing. I wasn't aware it was a war movie and whenever I see people being cruel to others, I feel disappointed with the human race.
Eventually, there were happy and funny scenes which was nice. They managed to give a beautiful ending to an otherwise sad and dark plot.

@yoalldudes Book and movie are nearly the same in this case, I believe. It's been over 10 years since I read the book. I probably won't reread it 'cause it's really long. I'd rather watch the movie over and over.

Wow really. I should get into the habit of reading the book first but then I might not appreciate the movie.

Whenever I watch stories about wars I lose faith in humanity. The cruelty we are capable of.

What a coincidence I chanced upon Arctic, an old movie in the tv. It is about a plane crash in the north pole.

Yes. I am rewatching movies I have seen a long time ago because I have forgotten then and I see them in a new light perhaps with me being more experienced in life

I recommend this one. But if you are sensitive to certain scenes, they can be disturbing.

i would say "that's just a movie", but people can be cruel to each other in real world too, so...
i haven't seen the movie, but the cast is good and it's rated 7.2, so thanks for sharing it with us, maybe i'll watch it.

I think it is based on a real war. It seems to be linked to a time when the people were fighting for the freedom of black slaves.
