Should one do morning walk wearing masks?

July 6, 2020 8:27pm CST
Due to Covid 19 situation in every country, in Kolkata, India, walkers are advised to do morning walk on roads and parks wearing the masks. Is it desirable? The masks generally dont allow normal breathing. Walking increases metabolism and walkers require more oxygen. Should they wear masks?

they should, but there certain terms they must do : 1. physical distancing, don't walk behind someone too close, if you walk together, you walk side by side with 1,5 m distance 2. wear mask, i recommend to wear mask from clothes (not the medical ones) you can still breath normally.

Yep,i think we should do morning walk wearing masks, because this virus is very serious and active. It's hard to recognize who has gotten infected.Wearing a mask is a good way to protect us from this pandemic

@sathviksouvik To be honest, when we got in Bus or any public traffic,we still need to wear a mask, and a card that permitted us to get in.and if you go to the pharmacy, you also need to wear a mask.As for the other place, you don't have to wear a mask, unless they asked you to do it.That's my own experience in Zhejiang Province,China

If that is the advice, then yes, they should wear masks. If there are penalties for not wearing masks , thats another reason to wear them. Wearing a mask would be the norm there wouldnt it? Isnt the air quality quite poor?

Thanks Jimb, the problem is when one is involved in brisk walking, the masks dont allow that amount of air to be taken in, so breathing becomes difficult.

Although wearing a mask is very torturous, it is better than risking Covid-19. Because that means you have to breathe using a ventilator, it hurts more.

Thanks Didik, what are the people doing in Indonesia?

I don't think that is a good idea wearing a mask while walking. Gladfully, we are only allowed to wear masks when we enter a shop or an office. I don't wear face mask when I walk but I will keep my distance from others.

Thanks Thelma it is a great idea. You are blessed when you walk there is not that population around. In India there are risks of other morning walkers. But I agree with you.
