Re-reading: Silence For The Dead by Simone St James

I wrote about this last year or the year before when I read it, but I didn't really do a great job of actually explaining it. I feel like it was probably one of those moments when I was still book drunk. This book has some of my favorite quotes out of any of the author's books. I've shared one of them before. He Blinked. "If it makes you smile at me like that, I'll sit in the loo and write a novel." The book is set in WWI England at an estate only a decade old. The occupants of the home disappeared suddenly, and no one really knows why or how. The home itself is repurposed as an asylum for war veterans. The building itself is mostly closed off as so much of it is just decaying at rapid speeds. You follow a woman who is on her way to the asylum for an interview. You discover that she is not actually a nurse, but she gets the job anyway. Over the book you learn not only why she seems to have gotten the position, but also why she was at such an isolated place posing as a nurse at all. The nurse sees a figure and well, that's what makes it a paranormal story, right? There is a love story within, but Simone St James books never focus completely on that. I'm not done with the re-read but I've only got a few chapters left. Another one of my favorite quotes from the book is : "Jack," I said after a long moment. "Hmm?" "Are you kissing the nurses just to get newspapers?" When his body shook against mine, I knew he was laughing. If you like to read, are a fan of paranormal and mystery wrapped in history with a twist of romance than I recommend anything Simone St. James. What is your least favorite thing in the world?

Snakes, Bugs and either extreme hot or extreme cold. Could do without any of those. About the book I really don't read anymore, but never liked paranormal or anything like it. My favorites always were romance novels

This is paranormal, but it's also so much more. The author really makes you feel as if you are living in those times and experiencing the struggles and the emotions. I like romance novels too, but sometimes i get sick of them Yes, I don't like any of those things either. I love cold, but as long as it's not really extremely cold.

May I say unfaithful is my least favorite thing? I don't really like it.

Oh, are you saying the character was unfaithful because of the quote about kissing nurses? No, that wasn't it at all. The character that said that WAS a nurse. She was playing a joke. Also, from someone who has been cheated on, I also don't like unfaithful people

@Adie04 You are fine, no worries. I understand not wanting to read or watch anything with that type of thing. I prefer happy shows or books.
