How does getting evicted effect your credit? If you are evicted for unpaid rent and you leave, do you have to pay that back rent? Does an eviction HAVE to go to court?

A friend of mine got evicted due to the hurricane and here is what she was told. 99% of the time even when the eviction goes to court it doesn't end up on your credit report. Unless you give that apartment complex as a refrence, the odds are that any place you move to will not find out about your eviction. I believe once you are evicted, you are on liable for paying future rent. You are liable for any owed rent up to the date you move out. You can get evictions settled outside of court. You need to talk to your leasing agent about it.

You are required to pay for any rent until your lease expires. If you are evicted you would have to ask the leasing center about the details however it will defintly effect your credit and make it much harder for you to rent in the future because rental places check for things like this when renting.
