Another Strange Dream

Though I suppose I could just say another dream since all of my dreams are quite strange. This is another one that I seem to only remember splices of. I woke up several times before actually getting up, so that's probably to do with why it's so disjointed. I was sitting in a classroom with a group of students. We were all there because we had done one thing or another that had been deemed wrong by society. Our teacher was a woman around my own age, and she called on a lot to help keep a calm flow to the classroom. She wore a long dress in a blue color that resembled denim. It was not a denim dress, but the color of the dress matched closely with the color of denim. She wore mary jane shoes. Her hair was always pulled up, and though I had seen her face, most of the time I saw her back as she wrote something or another on the chalkboard. At one point she asked me to read from a newspaper that had been provided to us all. The title of the article she wished me to read was long, and I stumbled over my words. Almost all of the words were written in a way to rhyme. I looked up at the teacher twice who gave me a severe frown and a disapproving shake of the head. Eventually she told me to hold off altogether as the student body had erupted into giggles. This humiliated me, of course, because there was no reason for me to stumble over my words. I apologized profusely to the teacher who only sighed and shook her head. The class was over by then and the teacher asked me to come see her. Then I woke up. Some notes from the dream It felt as if we were all incarcerated for something, and that the "something" was all related. I think we were supposed to be on another planet. Everyone in the classroom was human, but I can recall some part of the dream where we were being transported. Weird, huh?

It sounds like you are lacking confidence towards a project you have to do. Like if you are getting ready to do a presentation or a reading or query an agent (see my last post), you might subconsciously be scared. This is simply my translation of the dream. It does not mean that it is so. I don't know if you are planning anything of a sort. But read my last post about querying an agent. Then you'll understand why I said what I did. Hopefully you are not going through anything like that now.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Some time after my father passed away, he came to me in a dream with a newspaper showing me the winner of a Toronto Star Short Story Contest. The name on it was Mary Bird. My given name is Mary Patricia Bird. That was a sign to me not only to keep writing, that I will be successful, but to use my birth name as my author name. I take messages in dreams very seriously. Deciphering them is not always easy though.

You might be partially right. The newspaper thing was such a minuscule part of the dream though, so I'm not certain. The dream was focused on my being somehow locked away though, so it's still on that same track.

@patgalca Oh wow! That gave me chills. I have felt disheartened the last few days. I am not really sure whether to call it disheartened. I guess you could say I am just existing, and that is probably why my dreams have been extra strange lately. The fact that I was incarcerated in some way, but had some freedoms, I think that's a big symbol there.

sometimes dreams have their own meaning. I mean, there are separate interpretations of why we have to dream about it and depend on each other's beliefs as well.

It seems you fear the judgment of others.

I have a few ideas, but I don't know. I felt "caged" in the dream, so that seems easy to interpret. There were other parts of the dream that I don't really remember that I think would have made it easier to interpret.

Feeling trapped for some reason? I'd say a good 50% of my dreams take place either in school or at work.

@LindaOHio That isn't a bad idea. I could start with finishing up the organizing I wanted to do. I think that will make me feel better. Then I need to actually make a schedule of sorts and stick by it.

i also like that. I often have strange dreams. all the actors in my dreams are people I know from my childhood until now. in my opinion when we dream it is the same as a kit to watch a film or we as actors in the film. the film can be in the genre of horror, mystery and even action

Yes you are so right. Our subconscious acts out a movie in our mind and we are just actors in the film. Everyone we dream of, no matter who they are, we have seen before. I read recently, and I am not sure how true it is, that those people we dream of and do not personally know are spirits that are passing through.

That is weird. I can't remember my dream. I do know it had my aunt in it though.

Ah that's aggravating. I would rather forget my dream completely then to have one little inkling and not remember much else.
