Good afternoon! I slept like I hadn’t slept in a while last night. That’s weird, because I’d been sleeping well while on the road. But let’s face it, there’s nothing as comfy as your own bed! More about the travels later, but let’s take a musical trip to Canada, in celebration of Canada Day earlier this month. Here’s today’s song from the list of favorites by Canadian acts. #8: The Safety Dance - Men Without Hats But....but....but....that guy sounds British! Here’s a killer: he (lead singer Ivan Doroschuk) was born in Illinois. Men Without Hats was formed in Montreal, Quebec in 1977. Their dance/synth sound fit in perfectly with the new wave sounds of the early 80s. As a result, “The Safety Dance” was an international hit. Their other major hit was “Pop Goes the World” in 1987. They’re still at it, but you know how the radio is, so you haven’t heard from them in 33 years. The funny thing is I hated this song when it first came out. Your tastes can always change. (Except for peas, I still hate peas. ) Enjoy this tune about dressing up and going to the club scene! The Safety Dance Written by Ivan Doroschuk Recorded by Men Without Hats From Rhythm of Youth, 1982 If we don’t nobody will:
