I really am enjoying making the Rules Horror that I've talked about here before. I write one every day now. It doesn't take too long to write up, and it stretches the writing muscle by a fraction at least. However, I seem to be mistaken for a man on reddit. I think that's par for the course with the horror genre on reddit though. Most writers are men I believe, and I know I haven't helped the mistake by narrating one of the stories as if I was a man. That's okay though. My profile says that I am female, and I'm not going to bother correcting them. Reddit is a weird place. You go onto some of the subreddit's and find a lot of warm and welcoming people. You go to other parts of reddit and you find selfish, hoity toity types. The writing subreddits are a mix between the two from what I've seen. Horror isn't my favorite genre. Not by a long shot, but I like reading certain types of horror on reddit. When was the last time you were mistaken for the opposite sex on the internet?

I've never been mistaken for a man, but this is definitely a possible. I disguised my voice as my husband once and scared Kobe from behind a curtain!

You remind me of time with Binx. I was pet sitting and I called for him the same way his mommy does and he stretched up wanting me to pick him up. I picked him up and the look on his face!

@kobesbuddy I recently watched K'eyush The Stunt Dog on yotuube. His mom gave him a command and he'd do it, his mom's sister and brother in law doing the same? No siree bob, he wasn't going to listen. He even turned his head away! Animals are so much smarter than we give them credit for.

@ScribbledAdNauseum When Kobe sees me at the window, he won't mind. But, when he sees Jay or hears his voice, Kobe immediately does what he's told!

It's happened quite a bit with me. Especially with my old username for some reason.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Many do not pay close enough attention to what they are doing.

@CarolDM Right. To be honest I've felt like I haven't been paying "close enough attention" today if that makes any sense. So I understand why / how people do that sometimes.

Oh my I don't like horror stories or movies. I have been called Sir before on the phone.

I grew up with them so they don't bother me so much, but they aren't my favorite. Many many years ago now, a friend was calling to inquire abut bar stools. She had a cold and was called "sir" over the phone. She got so upset!

Glad it hasn't. Of course, your name is in your username. For me, even with my name of Amber, I've been mistaken for male.

Haha! Now that does happen here too. I've been asked if I was a boy, but that was before I put my profile picture up.

Luckily I have never experienced that on the internet. But in the real world it is quite often and it is more deliberate ridicule.

It is plain insulting if it's happening to you in real life. That's horrible!
