Funny things I believed as a child and a couple my son believed

I found an article about hilarious things people thought when they were kids. I read through them and found myself thinking similar things when I was a kid. Kids are so imaginative. I laughed so hard reading through them. Here are a handful of things I thought as a kid: I thought there were little people in the radio that sang. I thought people and characters lived in the TV in their own little worlds and that if a person tried hard enough they could get sucked into the TV. I blame Roger Rabit for this one. I thought that serial killers lived in cereal boxes and jumped out and killed people and was terrified to eat cereal for a while. I thought Jack Frost marked windows to take children while they were sleeping (this was because my brother told me this). I thought monsters lived under beds and would grab me by the feet and pull me under I used to run and jump into the bed and duck down and hide under my covers because I also believed the vacant house across the street from us that just so happened to face my room was haunted and that the ghost could see me looking at night and would come get me and I believed the boogyman lived in my closet (also thanks to my brother) so nighttime was a blast. Here are a couple of things my son thought he, for the most part, was a much brighter kid than me: He thought the three little pigs was a true story and was terrified of wolves because he thought they'd blow down our house and freaked out when I made him see them at the zoo in a cage because he thought they'd blow through the glass. I still laugh at this one it was cute and hilarious. He also thought when I bought him a Pink Floyd shirt that it was a pink shirt with some guy named Floyd on it. Those are just a few of probably many weird things I thought as a kid and my son probably has more that I can't think of but those were a couple of my favorites. What about you? What funny things did you believe as a kid or did your own kids believe?

lol Still not as weird as the stuff I thought. I think kids are super imaginative and creative. They don't understand how something works so they figure it out in a way that makes sense to them but not to the rest of the world.

@Reubed and what an amazing world it is. What some of us wouldn't give to get to live there again for just a bit longer.

I thought Jack Frost was a real man that came out in cold weather. I thought that Farther Christmas was real. I remember trying to phone him. I thought if I pushed my foot down on the floor the bus would move faster.

@sissy15 Oh, yes. In the USA you call Father Christmas Santa. I used to live in an area known as The Close. It used to be a Victorian Workhouse. It didn't have a number 13.

Ha clearly I thought the same thing about Jack Frost and most kids think Santa (as we call him in the US) is real. They actually have numbers to call Santa here. The bus one is a little funny but makes sense from a child's point of view knowing what they know about cars.

I told my kids they had to come in when it got dark or the boogyman would get them.

I was terrified of the boogeyman. My brother told me it lived in my closet and my mom made him check my closet every night before bed because of it.

Children sure have limitless imagination. Too bad as we grow up that imagination is crushed under the weight or reality.

Yes, sadly. I like how kids minds explain things in a way it makes sense to them regardless of whether or not it makes sense to anyone else.

Personally, that's still debatable. That's something adults still believe and honestly, I don't know if I do or not but I don't want to find out. There are people who have had experiences with what they call ghosts and I don't know what to think about it. That being said that's not really silly.
