Day 351
Promise 430
Matthew 5:21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. (KJV)
Many people don’t think about the words they say, believing they are harmless. They believe the old saying, ‘Sticks and stones will break your bones, but words will never hurt you.’ Nothing could be further from the truth. Bones heal, but words destroy.
Jesus told the people the destructive nature of the words they used. He showed the degree your words have.
Anger. Words said in the heat of the moment are often judgmental and lead to the destruction of relationships.
Raca or Vain fellow is one you don’t hear, but it can lead to trouble before authorities.
Fool is the worst of the three. This one is heard most often. Jesus said it brings you in danger of hell fire.
As Christians, you try to live your life as Christ would with regard for other people in everything you do and say.
Jesus went on to say if you have a problem with your brother, leave what you’re doing and make it right between you.
Matthew 5:23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there remember that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first, be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, while thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
No one wants bad feelings with another person. If you have a situation between you and another person, make it right between you. Forgive, and you will feel a freedom deep in your soul as though you took a shower. You’ll find yourself smiling again, and the world will look so much better and brighter.
Let’s pray: Father, help me use my words wisely. Help me forgive and treat people the way you treat them, with love and respect. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

I often have to walk away from people who choose to use their tongue to sting and lash out at others. Hopefully they will one day realize that their words are acidic and stop their verbal tirade.

I always mark this scripture about the danger of salvation if you have grudge with your brother or fellow being.

It's easy to lose sight of sin by focusing only on the big ones like murder, while ignoring the small ones like anger or jealousy. But a sin is a sin, and so we need to look at the big picture and try to focus our life on living like Christ would want us too, not just in the big stuff, but in the small details too.
