Review of "Kidding" - This show aired on Showtime and has 2 seasons. Starring Jim Carrey as Jeff Pickles - a squeaky clean children's puppet show host , Mr. Pickles has helped kids learn the colors, the ABC, for 30 years. But Mr. Pickles has been through the loss of his young son, and now - he wants to deal with heavy issues on his children's show.
But that's only the beginning. The show deals with divorce, relationships, family issues, priorities, as we watch Mr. Pickles deal with cultural issues, obsessed stalkers, divorce and his dad's dementia. All against the backdrop of of the colorful, and imaginative children's puppetshow and the puppets that inhabit Picklebarrel Falls.
It kept my interest, and I thought Jim Carrey was the ideal casting choices as Mr.Pickles - a shiny happy character who is intense and sad on the inside. Carrey's performance had real depth to it instead of just the plastic faced antics that Carrey got known for in his younger days, and featuring Catherine Keener as Jeff's sister who designs the puppets.
Also of note - while the backdrop for the show is a kid's puppet show - this show itself is not for kids - it deals with mature themes.
Another interesting thing is during the title of each episode there is an opening where creatively shaped letters are formed out of construction paper to form the word "Kidding".

It seems he's turned a new leaf. I remember "Number 23" (I think that was categorized as a horror) shocking me. That he took the role and that he was actually scary in it

@FayeHazel I don't care for his humor. I don't know about horror.

@just4him As for horror I'm picky. I like a good psychological thriller but I;m not big on blood, gore, or jumpscares

I saw this just got canceled, and it made me feel slightly bad for Jim Carrey. Some of the stuff he has said over the years makes me wonder about his mental health. But really, in this day and age, everyone needs their mental health reviewed.
Great review!

Me too, I was hoping there would be season 3. I know what you mean, I think it was after he was in the "Man on the Moon" movie there were some really odd interviews with him. Actually, it's an old clip, but there's also a video of Jim Carrey addressing recent college grads, and he's actually quite serious and inspiring in it.
I agree. We could all use some mental health help right now

I had Showtime when KIdding first came on and even though I am not a Carrey fan I did enjoy it--don't have Showtime anymore!

It's sort of funny. I watched season 1 with a free Showtime preview last year, and this year I got another free preview. lol I'm cheap that way
