A promise kept by a lottery winner in Wisconsin

It is amazing to learn that 28 years ago, that Tom Cook and his best friend Joseph Feeney shook hands on a deal in which both men made a promise to each other that if any on them would win the Powerball Lottery grand prize, they would split the winnings between the two of them.
Last month Tom purchased a Power Ball ticket in a Synergy Coop in Menomonie Wisconsin. Tom was delighted to learn that he won $22 million dollar grand prize.
Tom kept his promise to split the lottery money with Joseph by calling his friend to tell him the good news that he won the grand prize in the Power Ball lottery.
Joseph thought that his friend was joking. When Joseph found out that Tom won the grand prize of the Power Ball lottery, he was happy that his friend would keep his promise to split the winnings which is around $5.7 million dollars after the taxes were taken out of the $22 million dollar winnings.
Tom is ready to retire from his job. Tom and Joseph plan to use the lottery money to spend time with their relatives.

That is amazing and just as it should be! People don't always stay true to their word or conveniently forget their promises @Deepizzaguy

Winning a huge prize in a lottery game can cause the winner of the prize to break their promise to share the wealth to their close friends.

I agree with you since it is better to be honest than be branded as a crook.

Wow! $22 million. Tom is an honest good friend for keeping his word. I don't know of many people that would do that.

Money usually corrupts a person's mind but looks like Tom and Joseph value their friendship more than anything else and so Tom decides to honour the promise made 28 years ago of sharing the lottery money equally if either of them won.
