Whatever Gets You Through the Night

Everything seemed to be all right and I got into bed last night to do some reading. It took me a while to get sleepy and finally I seemed to drift off and then it all began. About an hour later there was a loud boom like something blew up and I realized a thunderstorm was starting. Once it quieted down I went back to sleep. About 3 AM my friends downstairs were having some problems I guess because doors were slamming and there was a lot of noise. Then some more thunder started up. After I drifted off again I came face to face with my late husband Martin. Seeing him is always a delight but this time he surprised me. It appeared he was standing in our old house in Latvia by the stairs wearing a suit and tie. I remember asking him what he was doing up so early. Then I followed him into the kitchen and he said he was helping my friends downstairs. Now he had never been with me to Florida and he has never met them. He also mentioned something about my friend Lesley’s mother watching carefully over something. I must mention here that my friend’s mother died years ago but somewhere around the date when Martin’s birthday is July 19th, Finally, I woke up to a sunny morning and still pondering about the night I had.
