I have a daughter who has extremely low self esteem ,
She is 15 years old and often will put herself down and call herself names and refer to herself as ugly or stupid.
We , her mom and I dont see her as ugly or anything other than the beautiful young lady she is.
Dispite this she will say she is stupid when something goes wrong or she is being corrected over one thing or another.
She also suffers from ADHD and recieves medicine which she takes each day.
Her social skills have improved with the medication but however she still lacks the ability to recognise her own strengths .
Does anyone know what we can do to try to make her believe in herself more ?

My wife and I give her praise all the time but she has the idea in her head we tell her just because we are her parents not because we really mean it but it simply isn't

@crobyghost that is hard to deal with I guess. Don't take me wrong but sometimes kids develop a habit of getting sympathy from people around them. And maybe this is the reason she is acting like that. Have you thought about it the other way round and tried to handle it like that

she has always been hard on herself , she struggles with some things in school but overall achieves good grades , however she doesn't believe those grades are what she deserves even though we tell her they are what she deserves .
Its truly heartbreaking to hear those words come out of someone you love
