Day 357 Promise 436 Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (KJV) What do you value? What will you go out of your way to obtain? Many people collect various objects, art, antiquities, whatever sparks their interest. Jesus told the people not to put value in material wealth because it breaks down and becomes old. Instead, He said to put your treasure in heaven, the Word of God. As Christians, you know everything decays and you need to buy new things every couple of years. You also know when you ‘collect’ God’s Word, study it, memorize it, put it in your heart so you will not forget it, it will never fade away and you will have a defense against Satan who comes to kill, steal, and destroy everything you own. Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (KJV) 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. John 10:10 The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. The way to have abundant life is to store away God’s treasure, His Word. Then Satan will have no foothold in your life and the collections you have, will be nice, but you won’t value them as much as you value God’s Word. What is your treasure? Let’s pray: Father, let Your Word be my treasure. Help me store it in my heart so it is part of my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
