Day 358 Promise 437 Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (KJV) People want what their friends and neighbors have, a good life, and the ability to enjoy it. Jesus showed the people they have everything they need, clothes, food, shelter. He told them not to worry about those things because God knows what they need and meets their needs. Instead, they are to seek God first, then everything they want will be added to them. They will see their needs met and their desires. As Christians, you know God meets all your needs. You don’t need to worry about what you will eat or where you will live. God will take care of you. You only need to trust Him. Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (KJV) When you put God first in your life, not only will He meet your needs, but He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. 4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. 6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. (KJV) When God is first, you will have all you need and want. What is better than trusting God with your life? Let’s pray: Father, too often I rely on myself and what I can do to get the things I need. Help me trust You and seek You first in everything. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. This past Sunday's church sermon for us was about SEEKING God, and Matthew 6:33 was the central passage the sermon was based on. Too often we try to do things our way, instead of seeking God's way. It's sometimes hard, as just by our very human nature we want to take matters into our own hands. But we have to trust God. He will provide. But we also have to be careful not to misapply his words, because just because we seek and follow God doesn't necessarily means he will shower us with riches and fame and nice houses and cars and wealthy riches. As Christians, we'll still face adversity and troubles in our lives, but if we seek God in everything we do he will always help us get through our adversities.

So true. When you apply James 1:5-8 you have a more complete picture. You need to trust, believe, and not waver in your belief. Being unstable will not get you anywhere with God. It sounds like an excellent sermon.
