Will they pay? Only time can tell

My husband lent someone $400 six months ago. Now, the couple always makes excuses that they have not earned anything because of pandemic. We gave them 6-month allowance. We agreed on a very flexible term of payment: 50$ every month, no interest. Now, the guy is working already, I just wish that they would pay us this August. By the way, the money was used in buying a motorcycle

While it is understood that everybody is passing through difficult time, one should fulfil his promise of returning the borrowed money. As you say he has started working that means he has got some other obligations.

@Janet357 Are you not at fault for lending money for such a cause?

yes but the ridiculous reason here for borrowing money was just to buy a motorcyle they sold their old one and wanted a modern model so they.borrowed $400 from us. I give big consideration to those who borrow because they are hungry or.sick, but borrowing money for pleasure, naaaaa!

I lent some money to a work colleague because he couldn't work due to the pandemic. He just got back to work last July. A month has passed and no word on when he will pay Hope both of us get paid.

@Janet357 true. That is why it is sometimes not good to lend money. You are taken for a fool. What is worse is when they need money again and they ask from you, if you do not lend them any, you will be portrayed as selfish.

that is the problem of the borrowers, you help them but once they get money, they become strangers to you, they will.avoid you. very bad attitude

I hope they will payback. I also hope they are not your friends because unfortunately some friends are very bad at paying back loans. The more so when they know that you would be unwilling to take tough measures to get your money back.

Friends but not close. you are right with what you said. Am just worried because the wife is known to be closefisted when it comes to.money. a friend of mine told me that. it is like she wants everything to be charity. I told my husband about this because I had countless if experience lending money and most of them did not pay

I hope you get paid for that loan. Many are just using the pandemic as an excuse not to pay as laws became laxed during the poandemic. I think you should follow them up as often as you can to be sure.
