My country, the UK, has had free health care since 1948, although this is not total when it comes to dental and eye care. People in work pay for prescriptions up to age 60, but they are free after that. We regard the United States as being extremely backward in its provision of health care.

I live in the United States, and of course we don't have it. Some places will help you out though. For instance, in my state they voted to add a few cents to everyone's water bill, and that is meant to pay for anyone who has to use an ambulance, but can't afford to pay for it.

As an American, I can say that my country certainly does not have free health care. Far from it in my country, that's for sure.
The United States the richest nation in the world. Yet our citizens don't have free health care.

In Canada health care is paid by taxes, so I wouldn't call it free.
If I visit the doctor or have some hospital procedure, I don't receive a bill. I am very happy with my doctors and my health care.
Dental, eye care, prescriptions are not covered in Alberta until age of 65. It varies in other provinces.
