PANDESAL

August 4, 2020 7:10am CST
Sorry if I have got you guys confuse.. PANDESAL is a type of bread here in the Philippines.. One of the most popular I guess but also the cheapest.. It is made of dough with an active yeast made and rolled in special crumbs (pandesal crumbs).. It's not that special, but it one of a kind

It looks very like any round bread roll or dinner roll. The recipe is much the same as any basic white bread - flour, water, yeast, a little sugar, salt. Sometimes it contains egg and milk. The unusual feature is that it is dusted with dry bread crumbs before baking which may be why it is called 'Salted Bread' ('Pan de sal').All the recipes I've seen suggest that it's a soft, sweetish bread rather than an overly salty one.

I miss Pandesal especially when time for breakfast. Pandesal is good anytime of the day. There are varieties of Pandesal now like ube, cheese and there's even pumpkin Pandesal. Wish I know how to make one.
