New routines

I think everyone's world got rocked when the COVID hit and many parts of the world are still trying to come to grips with the lasting effects. I hear people talk about "getting back to normal" and "what's the new normal going to look like". I don't know if anyone has the answer right now. To make matters even more complicated, add in the everyday changes that people try to make to their lifestyle. Events that alter what used to be our regular (normal) routine. In June my wife and I moved in a house we purchased and to say it's changed our "routine" is an understatement. We're having to adjust to the HOA, new trash pickup days, rooms in different places, how we allow the dogs outside, finding places to put things and new routes to work. These things in themselves are manageable and we're getting through them, sometimes with an adult beverage or two. If this wasn't enough, I decided that I needed to get my weight under control. So this month I'm starting a new routine of getting up early on the days I work from home (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and getting a walk/jog in. Yesterday was my first day and if one of our dogs didn't wake me up to go outside I probably would have gone back to sleep. But I did drag my butt out of bed, suited up, and put in a 3.75 mile walk/jog in right at an hour. Can I just tell you I was sweating my ass off when I got home. Maybe I should ditch the sweat pants and shirt. I mean this is Florida and it's hot 24/7 so what was I thinking. Anyway, I survived. Duh, this writing wouldn't be here if I didn't survive. I've heard it takes about 21 days to establish a new routine. I sure hope I catch on quicker than that. I guess we'll see tomorrow morning. Stay tuned - same bat time, same bat channel.

@Simone - I'll do that. Just from watching what I'm eating and cutting down on my portion size, I've lost approximately 10 lbs.
