Player Opt-Out

The NFL is giving players the opportunity this year to opt-out of playing for the season. It's the NFL's way of giving players the option to play without being hurt financially. Players that choose to opt out in the high risk category get a stipend of 350,000. They'll also get full benefits and an "accrued season toward free agency." I'm assuming that means that it's like they played the season and will count toward their contract towards free agency. There will also be voluntary opt-outs or those that just don't want to take the risk or don't feel comfortable playing. Those players will only get a $150,000 stipend and will not get that season toward free agency. The deadline for this opt out is tomorrow at 4pm. There will be other instances through out the year where a player can opt out such as if a family member gets sick or the player. There will probably be more changes to come but this is one of the major ones that will help players. I watch ESPN and there's another NFL channel we found since the actual NFL channel is still off of the Dish Network. The announcers from those stations as well as myself believe that many players will take up to the last minute to make their choice. Since we weren't sure if there was even going to be a season, I believe that this is the best way to figure that out. If enough players choose to opt-out then you can't have a season. It makes sense to me while it doesn't punish the players. What do my NFL fans think of this opt out clause? *picture from google

I really hope we have s season. I wonder if some opt out thinking it won't happen anyway. I certainly hope we do.

So far we will and it will be the whole schedule. I think even with the new games they want to add in at the end. Obviously not pre-season lol
