This is a match which I remember to this date. This was one of the matches in the Tri series cricket involving India, South Africa and Australia. This match took place in October 1996. Australia had made 215 runs in their 50 overs. In return, apart from Sachin Tendulkar's 80 plus score, other batsmen could not flourish much. India were 164 for 8 wickets and had just two more batsmen to come. It was a tough situation for India. However, Javagal Srinath hit a big six, and then he and Anil Kumble, both primarily India's frontline bowlers started scoring runs at a good pace. Australia tried hard but Srinath's hitting and intelligent thinking and guidance by Anil Kumble led them to score 52 of 40 balls and help India to a thrilling 2 wicket win. The match is remembered for Anil Kumble's mother in the stands standing up in excitement and joy when the two players put up a brave effort against the Aussies. And remember Aussies had terrific bowlers like Glenn Mcgrath and Jason Gillespie and allrounders like Michael Bevan in their ranks. The YouTube link:
