Monday, Monday, and back to normal. I promise I’ll post about that finish we had in the tournament later, but first you need some music to wake you up. Were yesterday’s songs a little too mellow for you? Today’s songs will fix that. First up, a tune from 1980. How Do I Make You - Linda Ronstadt Now everybody thinks the new wave is super Just ask Linda Ronstadt or even Alice Cooper (Weird Al Yankovic) Linda Ronstadt had that late 70s curse thing happen to her. After a couple of spectacular albums (including one of her biggest ever, Simple Dreams), she had a less-than-stellar follow-up (1978’’s Living in the USA, which still sold a lot because of the album cover ). She bounced back, in a big way, with 1980’s Mad Love, going for a harder sound. Oh, she didn’t abandon the old favorites: she covered a Neil Young song (“Look Out for My Love”) and an “oldie” (“Hurts So Bad”). And, truthfully, her affection for Elvis Costello (she did three of his songs on this album) went back to the previous album, when she covered “Alison.” She proved with this album (this being the first single from the album) that she could rock with the best of them.
