Well, well, well. The Country Music Association finally got around to announcing the 2020 inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame. And, I might add, well, well, well, they finally got around to inducting Bocephus. If you love, like, loathe, or are completely indifferent to country music, you know Hank Williams Jr.'s name. Why they've waited this long to induct him, after a career that goes back to the 60s, is beyond me (although I think it may have something to do with the Hall of Fame's notorious "sympathy" actions: this induction announcement comes less than two months after Williams' daughter was killed in a car wreck). But at least he's finally in, alongside his father (who was the third inductee in Hall of Fame history....and yes, I do know the pecking order for the first six [Jimmie Rodgers, Fred Rose, Hank Williams, Roy Acuff, Tex Ritter, and Ernest Tubb]). Ironically, the announcement comes just after the 45th anniversary of Williams' near-fatal fall from Ajax Mountain in Montana. From the "modern era," Marty Stuart joins his wife, Connie Smith, as the only husband and wife team inducted separately. Ex-spouses George Jones and Tammy Wynette are in separately, and the two other married couples -- primary Everly Brothers songwriting team Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, and Carter Family members A.P. and Sara Carter -- were inducted together. The third inductee comes from the rotating category. This year's category is the songwriter, and they picked a fine songwriter in Dean Dillon. Dillon had a minor recording career, but he's Hall of Fame bound thanks to writing songs like "Tennessee Whiskey" (George Jones hit), "Set 'Em Up Joe" (Vern Gosdin), and a boatload of George Strait songs including "Nobody in His Right Mind Would've Left Her," "The Chair," "Ocean Front Property," and "It Ain't Cool to Be Crazy About You." A good class for 2020. Seriously, one of the few normal things that's happened this year! You may not believe it, but this IS Hank Williams Jr.!!!

It is about time, right! I don't know how they make these decisions but I think they need a little help. Funny, I saw Marty Stuart at a pawn shop one day. I was getting a price on one of my Dad's guitars and there he was pawning his guitar. I asked for a photo but he declined, and gave me his autograph. Didn't want to be seen in a pawn shop I am sure.
