Day 6
Promise 451
Matthew 16:13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
15 He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
With so many religions in the world today and as many doctrines to go with them, it’s hard to know what to believe. There is a doctrine and religion for everything a man wants to believe.
It was the same in Jesus’ day. He asked His disciples what they believed and who they thought He was. He received many answers from them, showing Him, they didn’t know who He was either. When asked directly, Peter said He was the Christ, the Son of the Living God. When he said what he did, Peter broke down all thought of Jesus being a prophet. He went right to the heart of who Jesus is—the Son of the Living God.
As Christians, you know the truth of Jesus’ true identity. When Jesus told Peter, He would give him the keys of the kingdom, He gave him every tool necessary to do the work of the kingdom of heaven. Jesus told him that whatever he bound on earth would be bound in heaven and whatever he loosed on earth would be loosed in heaven. Those same tools are yours today.
What are the keys of the kingdom? Faith. Prayer. Bible study. When you apply those keys to your everyday life, you have everything you need. You loose those eager to hear the good news of Jesus Christ from the shackles Satan put on them and you bind every evil work of Satan in the lives of those same people.
Are you using the keys, tools, Jesus provided to help you through this life? Apply them today and see the difference they make in your life.
Let’s pray: Father, help me use the tools You provided for my life and spiritual health. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
