Yarn Cake Sock

the Yarn Cake Sock that I crocheted
United States

Last night, I wound a hank of yarn into a yarn cake. After I did that, I crocheted a yarn cake sock with.....sock yarn! Go figure. Anyway, I made the sock to put the cake of yarn into so that the cake wouldn't fall completely apart while knitting a pair of ... take a guess ....socks!!!

I like the yarn you chose to make the cake sock out of. Do you wind the yarn yourself or do you have one of those yarn winders?

I have a swift and a yarn ball/cake winder. I got them at Knit Picks when they were on sale last year.

@bluerubymoon53 I've seen one on amazon for $10.00, but I'm a little weary of something that cheap. I know etsy has the Norwegian ones that look like a table or chair leg, I've considered that

@ScribbledAdNauseum I would be a bit leery of a winder at that price, too. Or even for a swift.

Thank you. It really makes it handy for the cake to not come apart.

Having read the cake word gets me hungry haha. It's just a sock yarn used for making knitting... I hope I can do knitting as well. That would be nice to knit things.

All you have to do is practice, practice, practice to do knitting well.
