My First Jury Summons

I got my first summons to be on a jury for a criminal trial. My whole life I always thought this sounded exciting and like something I would enjoy doing. However, now that I have baby Aleister I do not think this is going to be something I am able to do. He is only 8 months old and still breastfeeding. I am not prepared to leave him in someone else's care all day while I am gone. So, today my job is to figure out how I can get dismissed from doing jury duty. I always imagined being on a jury for a high profile case and how interesting it would be, but unfortunately this is not the right time. Have you ever been a jury member? @FourWalls Yes, I had to go online to a government website and fill out a form and enter some notes regarding why I should be excused. Now I am waiting to hear back from them to see if they allow me to be excused.

You sure got that right. I wouldn't want to leave my child either. Hope you can get out of it.

Yes, I served once on a child abuse case. That was many, many years ago. I'm in Ohio.

I would possibly be sitting as a member on a jury for a criminal trial. I don't think I will have to do it, though.

I have never been! It is something that's mandatory in your country right?

It is mandatory unless you have a good reason that you are unable to do it!

@MissNikki I'm like you in that I've always wanted to be summoned for Jury Duty. Never been called but hopefully one day. I'm so sorry you got called at an inconvenient time.
