Miep Gies who died in 2010 at the age of one hundred, but she is known for helping hide the Frank Family, from the Nazi’s in the secret annex, but on August.04 1944, the family was discovered, and arrested, the entire family would die, except Otto, in those camps Margo and Anne only days a part in Bergen Belsen. Later Miep and Bep would go back and try to see if they could salvage any of the families belongings, when she discovered, the notebooks and papers on the floor of the Annex, she put the papers and notebooks in a drawer hoping to return them to Anne, unfortunately she died in Bergen Belsen. After it became clear in Mid July that Anne had died in Bergen Belsen she gave the notebooks and papers to Otto. After the publication of the diary, in 1947, Otto encouraged Miep to read the papers, she did so, thankful that she had not decided to read them after getting them out of the Annex, because she knew if she had she would have had to burn them, because of the danger. For years after the war Miep’s life was tied to the legacy Anne Frank left. While speaking to Erin Grunwell’s class of students, the school district had all but given up on, students who risked their lives just to get to school Miep Gies had this to say. “You are the heroes. You are the heroes everyday.” ? Miep Gies Miep Gies never really saw herself as a hero, she was an ordinary woman who lived in extraordinarily dangerous times, but she did not let that stop her from doing what was right. Without Miep Gies, Anne Frank’s story, would have been lost to time...
