Alcohol is considered a substance of abuse, but we keep drinking it?

The two most common substances of abuse are alcohol and cigarettes. Researchers have proven that pregnant women drinking alcohol increase their risk of fetal deformation or death. Alcohol also becomes addictive in the long run. As you keep drinking it, your tolerance for the substance would increase, until you become an alcoholic. Alcohol also causes malnutrition because it prevents the absorption of vitamins and essential nutrients. Alcohol affects the liver (alcoholic liver cirrhosis) and the brain (depressant). These are proven effects of alcohol. There are still many ill effects on your health. Hence, before your social drinking habits turn into addiction, control yourself. Don't make it a habit to drink alcohol daily. We should use alcohol to protect ourselves externally from microbes, but let's not 'drink' it. Just by the fact that it can disable microbes tells something about how dangerous it is to be used internally. (it does not kill microbes internally). What are your thoughts on this?

Yes, and sometimes it's a pity we can't control ourselves. Thanks.

I guess social drinking can be a way to release stress. Hopefully, one doesn't grow addicted to it. Thanks.
