Remember 1970? Some of us do. Some weren’t born then, but at least have heard the music from that year. All month long I’ve been looking at great and memorable songs from 50 years ago, and now it’s time for my favorites. Let’s start here.
#10: Joanne - Michael Nesmith & the First National Band
Hey, hey, he’s a Monkee!
After the Monkees broke up Mike Nesmith went on to a pretty prolific post-Monkees career, as a songwriter (he wrote Linda Ronstadt’s early hit “Different Drum”), producer, and performer. This was his “big hit” from 1970.
In fact, Nesmith was the only Monkee with a solo hit. It was a hit in pop, country, and easy listening.
And man, do I love this song.
