Yeah, I’m late. Home Depot delivered the material for my new steps today. So, now that it’s all stuffed in the garage I’m enjoying lunch at Mark’s Feed Store (a local BBQ eatery). For those of you who suffered through the country song yesterday in the list of favorites that date to 1980, here’s compensation. This will cure the country headache.
#8: Flirtin’ With Disaster - Molly Hatchet
A second-generation southern rock band from the home of Lynyrd Skynyrd (Jacksonville, Florida....and no, I don’t know why a band from Florida did a song called “Sweet Home Alabama”
), Molly Hatchet had two things they’re probably remembered for. One was the distinct album cover artwork. The other was Danny Joe Brown’s voice. Man, that guy could sing.
Sadly, he had diabetes and couldn’t stay on the road, so he left the band (eventually dying from complications), and the band became meh.
But oh, those first two Hatchet albums are great. That includes 1979’s Flirtin’ With Disaster, the titular song being featured today. This was their “big hit,” such as it was, released as a single in early 1980. It got plenty of airplay where I lived.
Of course, at the time, I was living in Jacksonville, so go figure.....
Flirtin’ With Disaster
Written by Danny Joe Brown, Dave Hlubek, and Banner Thomas
Recorded by Molly Hatchet
From Flirtin’ With Disaster, 1979
How much more can we take with all of this corruption:

Not familiar with this one; but it didn't make my head hurt. :-)
