Day 19 Promise 474 Matthew 26:63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. 64 Jesus said unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. When something is presented to you, do you go to great lengths to prove whether or not it’s true? Judas betrayed Jesus to the high priests who in turn brought many false witnesses before them to prove His guilt, but they couldn’t find agreement among them. Then the high priest stood and asked the defining question. Are you the Christ, the Son of God? Jesus told them He was and one day they would see Him sitting on the right hand of power and returning in the clouds of heaven. Jesus gave them the proof they needed to crucify Him, not because it was the will of man to crucify Him, but it was the will of God so He could redeem the world and bring salvation. Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. (KJV) Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. (KJV) Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (KJV) As Christians, you know Scripture gives you every proof that Jesus is the Son of God. One day He will return in power and great glory, just as He said He would. Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Jesus’ persecution at the hand of the chief priest and elders was necessary for your salvation. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Jesus is the promise God gave Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Jesus is the promise the prophets prophesied about for your salvation. One day Jesus will return in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Do you believe this? Let’s pray: Father, You sent Your Son, Jesus into the world for one purpose. Help me be Your witness to the truth. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 26 August 2020 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
