Trust Issues

A new client sent me a message through PM asking me to write a short review about his kitchen product that he is selling online. And he is willing to pay me after submitting the review. I don’t know if I’d do it or not since I have trust issues now as a recent client didn’t pay me for my service.
I guess I need to ask for an upfront payment (partial payment) which I think will be beneficial for both parties.

I can understand about the trust issues as you were screwed by a client. Good idea for an upfront payment.

If you explain to him what has happened to you in the past with other clients not paying you, and as a result you need a partial payment up front, then your client should be understanding of why you must ask for it. The other option is to write a full review for him, but only send him part of it until he provides you full payment, at which time you can send the remainder of the review to him.

@freelancermariagrace That’s very interesting. His silence could mean his intentions weren’t to pay you afterward for your services.

Yes, will do, Manuela. If he doesn't want to agree with it, then I'd pass.

Hahaha! But that is not what happened to me just recently. The client didn't pay me for my service.

It sounds fishy to me. But maybe he got scammed before. Bit I wouldn't do it. Money talks, as they say.

Yes, Carol. I asked for an upfront payment. And it's okay if he won't agree with it, though.
