Dot To Dot

Do you remember those? I can remember doing these in school from time to time. They were usually given as a reward for hard work, or as a distraction to keep you quiet during end of grade testing. Actually, that last part I'm just guessing because I don't honestly remember. I do remember doing these in school though. Well, I went to the thrift store today and got $18 in cash / some trade credit for selling them more books. I used some of the trade credit I already had and bought a dot to dot book and a coloring book. Yes, I know, but it relaxes me and helps me when developing a story.. Anyway, I've started on one dot to dot and I have to say, I should have used a pencil first go around. I've made a mistake or two, but nothing that I think will distract from the end product. Still, I'll use a pencil for the next one. No photo since I haven't finished it yet, but this is the dot to dot that I got. I paid more like $4.50 at the thrift store for this. Do you remember doing dot to dot?

It was always farm animals, or rainbows or cowboys and princesses that we'd create through dot to dot art.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Well, I haven't tried it in a long time, but crocheting helps me to relax.

@popciclecold Yeah, I agree. I can't crochet when I am too stressed about something because I mess up too much. When I am just feeling a little stressed though, it helps quite a bit to work up a wash cloth or a granny square.

I just completed one earlier today. I find it kind of relaxing to be honest.

Ah yeah, same here. We had the Highlights books growing up. Lots of little paper crafts in them.

My one son liked doing the dot to dot but not coloring the book so he gave the book when he was done to his younger siblings to color.

Yes, I definitely remember dot-to-dot. I do adult coloring these days. Have a great Friday.

There are a plethora of different activity type books for adults, apparently. I saw several little "finish the story" type books at the thrift store, but I didn't get them because I am sure I could find something like that online and do it that way. I love adult coloring too, but I'm not a big fan of books with tiny spaces. Enjoy your Friday!

@LindaOHio No, I'm sorry. Kindle Direct Publishing is the way I go, and so now query needed. There should be some examples online though, and maybe you can find some author facebook groups to help with that sort of thing. You might even be able to call the librarian in your area and see if they have any advice to offer. Might be some local publishers that could help as well.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Do you have any experience with query letters to publishers? Any tips? I've written a lot in the past; but didn't have any guidelines to go by for a GOOD letter. Thanks.

@CarolDM True. I wouldn't mind getting some sort of brain teaser type book, but there are some things I won't do like sudoku. I prefer word games.

I haven't seen one made for adults before. There's around 1000 dots to connect on each drawing with this book.

@Fa_Maverick Ah, I've heard of those. That wouldn't be so bad. I don't like math, but if it's simple equations then I think I'd enjoy it. It would be fun to see the pattern slowly taking shape.

@ScribbledAdNauseum So many dots that would keep me preoccupied. I think you can get ones that involve solving math questions to get number and you put the dot on graph paper then when you have the outline you colour it in. Example: put a dot on A 5+5= so you put a dot on A 10
