Saintly Spanish Friar was in our midst.

The Filipinos did rally a revolution against the cruelty of Spain, friars included, as epitomized in the Rizal classic Noli Me Tangere. Or so I believed - that that time before the turn of the century was Spain's most severe persecution of the Filipino people.
Nah. Now emerges the story of a selfless Augustinian Recollect who served the people in Palawan, Las Pinas, Mindoro, Batangas, Cavite, and even learned Tagalog so well that when he was canonized, the Filipinos exclaimed that Tagalog had been elevated as a 'language of the saints.
Come to know Saint Ezequiel Moreno.

He does have a loving face and so sorry that the Spanish did that to all of you the nearest I can come to that kind of feeling is what William Wallace did to fight the crushing of his country saying no more than that.
By the way if he is like Fray Escoba then he will be a favourite of mine it never fails to bring tears to my eyes.

I believe all things that had come to pass were meant to be, and that Spain was meant to colonize us. As did America. Yup, we did lose our identity as a people, we were fashioned to become who we were not. But that is all water under the bridge now. We must assert now who we are as a people and cease blaming other countries for our present egregious state of affairs.
For everything that has been said and done, there were good that has come to us also. One of that good is now St. Ezequiel. He lived with my people and he was well loved.
Not privy to Fray Escoba. Please tell.

@lovinangelsinstead21 St. Martin de Porres is kinda known to us but am not well versed with his life story. Will search the net and learn about Fray Escoba. Thank you for telling.

I think and almost sure that he was known as St. Martin de Porres or Porreres.
I loved the way he was talking to God he was saying okay so you think you are pretty smart another fine mess you have got me into things like that so very down to earth and he was known to heal people and they flocked around him.
He used an ordinary broom as his way of cleaning things up.
An extraordinary man for sure.
It was a black and white film and found it very moving to watch in part.
