I've Been Slacking

With summer winding down and fall close at hand, I decided to kick back and be a little lazy and enjoy myself. Little Miss enjoys being outside and playing. I want her to be able to do have fun. Fun is not being inside sitting in front of a sewing machine. I do need to dedicate a few days a week to sewing though. Have to set up days when I'll be able to do that. This will not be easy with school starting up soon. We will be doing remote learning this school year. Met with the lady who will be her kindergarten teacher. She actually is related, but she is one of her shirt-tail relatives so it won't matter that she is related. I spoke to her about my decision to keep Little Miss home for this school year. She said what I expected that she is happy that we are doing what we feel is best for Little Miss. From what I gather, the class size would only be 14 children, and they are breaking the group into 7 per teacher and paraeducator. They will be taught in separate rooms. I told the teacher that was great, but what if one of those students or teachers were to get the virus? That is why I made my decision to keep Little Miss home. There are no guarantees either way, but I feel better keeping her home. So, I need to set up a space in our teeny tiny home for Little Miss that will be utilized for her school space. I have been brainstorming, but have yet to decide how to do it. One rainy day, it will all come together. Until then, I will have days when I will be extremely busy, and days where I will be lazy. Time goes by fast. We all need time to stop and look around us. Enjoy life.

I've been slacking off, too, but today I'm doing laundry, and if I have any energy left after hanging it up, I'll cut the grass.

I have to start the dishwasher, throw in a load of laundry, and sweep the floors. Going to be a nice day so we are going outside today as well.

It's best to do online schooling now. It's still not safe to return to school.

So many keep telling me the importance of social interaction and I do realize that she needs friends too. However, keeping her in a room of people that we have no idea where they have been is not my idea of keeping Little Miss safe.

@DianneN I so agree. We have been having visits with her cousin. But, if the outbreaks continue here in our state, those visits will end for a while.

@ElusiveButterfly The social interaction can wait. Safety comes first in my book.

Well you're doing the right thing keeping her home for now. It's good that you are able to do that. I'm sure you'll find just the right space for her school work.

I am glad that I decided to retire early. If I were still working, I would quit and stay home. Not an easy thing to do for many who need to work to survive.

My granddaughter in Georgia is also home schooling her kids and has set up a classroom in the dining room with separate desks for all 3. Good luck and I'm glad you're keeping Little Miss safe.

Even if we need to sit at the dining room table to do school work, it is what we will do. If we had a bigger place it wouldn't be an issue.

@ElusiveButterfly I know it is hard to do if you don't have the space, but you do what you gotta do in order to keep your kids safe.

@gr8nana6 we will manage just fine. Once I move things around again and get rid of a few things, we will have more space.
